Could Eating Organic Food Help You Lose Weight?
Could eating organic food really help you lose weight? Blaming inactivity and overeating for the obesity epidemic has yet to provide any real solutions or provoke significant changes. Recent research is suggesting that the use of synthetic additives and chemicals in our food supply is contributing to the cause of the current weight problem in the U.S.
“The more processed the food is in our bodies, the less our bodies actually recognise it (as food)”, says Steven Cabral, body transformation expert.
Fifty years ago, hormones, preservatives and pesticides weren’t used in food production. The human body can’t use them properly, and finds it hard to get rid of them, so that most of them are stored inside the bodies’ fat stores. It is also becoming apparent that these synthetic additions are interfering with the way our bodies work. Consuming refined foods that contain unnatural additives means our bodies expend far more energy on breaking those additives down, leaving less energy for the body to use on what it should be doing.
Foods marketed as ‘diet’ or ‘low fat’ are the worst things on the market, according to Steven. This is because they mislead people into thinking they are nutritious foods, when in fact they are not. They are unnatural, often have synthetic additives and contain virtually zero nutrition. They are therefore empty calories, which won’t fill you up so you remain hungry and eat more half an hour later! Research is suggesting these chemical additives that are stored in body fat, actually alter the natural chemistry of the fat making it much harder to lose the fat if/ when a weight loss programme is started.
Natural and organic foods do not contain harmful chemical additives and provide the full nutritional range your body needs. Eating healthily means that your body will work more healthily, and you will reap the benefits not only in how you look but also how you feel. Eating organically may help you lose weight because you are not consuming synthetic chemical compounds that potentially sabotage and slow down your metabolism by taxing your internal organs. Organic food provides the nutrients your body needs, and helps your body work more efficiently, so naturally aiding weight loss.

I totally agree. I have been overweight most of my life and I’ve tried all kinds of diets and nothing seemed to help. And then back in march I decided to try something I’ve never tried before – I stopped eating processed foods and refined sugars. I started losing weight almost immediately and feel so much better. This is how I will be eating for the rest of my life – fresh fruits and vegetables and a little lean meats and healthy fats (ie olives, walnuts, etc)
